DAY1:PHNOM PENH ARRIVAL-FULL DAY CITY TOUR
Arrive in Phnom Penh this morning, and pick up for Phnom Penh full-day tour.
Phnom Penh is nowadays a bustling city and its ochre-colored colonial buildings, bustling squares, trendy cafés, and frangipani-lined boulevards create an atmosphere that is unlike any other city in Southeast Asia. Set out on a city tour to visit the NationalMuseum, which houses Khmer art and sculptures from different periods of Cambodian history, and visit the RoyalPalace. (Open from 8.00 am to 10:30 am and from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Women should cover their shoulders and both men and women should wear skirts or shirts covering their knees). The palace was built in 1866 by the French for King Norodom and is also home to the Silver Pagoda, which received its name because its floor is made up of 5,329 silver tiles. The palace has been inhabited by kings at all times except the period when the radical Khmer Rouge party took control in 1975. Under its leader Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge seized power and declared ‘year zero’. Opt to learn more about these turbulent years when visiting the infamous TuolSlengMuseum in the afternoon. Return to your hotel or to one of the riverside cafes or bars where you may want to take in the sunset. Overnight stay in Phnom Penh
DAY2: PHNOM PENH-SIEM REAP via flight (eco-class)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Siem Rea p. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, meet with your guide and transfer to your hotel. Visit the sunset at Phnom Bakheng Hill. Lunch and dinner are at your leisure. Overnight stay in Siem Reap
DAY3: SIEM REAP FULL DAY-ANGKOR WAT-ANGKOR THOM
Start the day with a transfer to Angkor Wat, one of the modern wonders of the world. Be amazed by the sheer size of the temple and learn how the Khmer Empire prospered between the 9th and 13th centuries, around the time when Angkor Wat was built. Stroll through the intricately carved hallways that show hundreds of fine carvings and discover small shrines still in use today by the local people. Head back to Siem Reap to rest and enjoy lunch on your own before continuing to Angkor Thom, the ancient royal city of the Khmer Empire with its centerpiece; the Bayon temple. As you approach, you will notice the enigmatic faces of former King Jayavarman VII looking in every direction. Your guide will take you to the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform from where the King could welcome back his victorious army, and the Terrace of the Leper King, which holds detailed carvings winding along a narrow passage-way that leads to the Baphuon complex. In the late afternoon, visit Artisans d’Angkor, an organization focusing on training unschooled rural youth in traditional handicraft skills. Ancient techniques are still practiced here such as wood and stone carving, lacquering, gilding, and silk painting. Bid farewell to the artisans and return to your hotel. Overnight stay in Siem Reap
